New training platform connecting Indonesian businesses with Australian training providers

JAKARTA, 27 February 2025 – The groundbreaking Indonesia-Australia Skills Exchange (IASE) platform was launched today, to connect Indonesian businesses with Australian Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) providers. Available at iaskills.org, the platform has already attracted more than 120 Indonesian businesses, with more than 50 Australian training providers offering 335 courses across a range of subjects.

Among the well-known Australian institutions with courses available on the IASE platform are Melbourne Polytechnic, Swinburne University of Technology, TAFE New South Wales, TAFE South Australia, offering various courses from technical skills to soft skills development.

Supported by the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) Economic Cooperation Program Katalis, the business-to-business platform was launched at a dynamic online event co-hosted with the Indonesian E-commerce Association (idEA). By providing diverse training opportunities for Indonesian businesses, the platform bridges local skills gaps and is solidifying its position as a vital tool for upskilling the Indonesian workforce across multiple sectors.

"This digital platform responds to the need for quality workforce training in industry in Indonesia and expands the international market for training providers from Australia. The high level of interest from both countries reflects our shared optimism for this strategic opportunity to strengthen bilateral partnerships and support the implementation of the IA-CEPA,” said Paul Bartlett, Director, Katalis.

Devi Ariyani, Executive Director, ISD, also expressed enthusiasm, “For the first time, Indonesian businesses can access Australian training designed specifically for our needs. It will help our local service industry develop local talent and access the skills needed to thrive in the modern business environment. We are looking forward to more collaboration in the future between Indonesia businesses and Australia training providers.”

The IASE platform has a wide range of capabilities and features designed to meet business needs. Most importantly, it offers both off-the-shelf and tailored training that addresses particular skills development needs - such as online, offline or hybrid delivery options - as well as preferences for the language used and type of course.

"We welcome this great initiative, which is pioneering new opportunities for Indonesia’s businesses to accelerate their capability and make their mark in the fast-moving global digital economy. Targeted training to build a highly skilled workforce is an essential foundation for our members to advance as a more competitive, globally connected industry,” said Hilmi Adrianto, Chairman of Indonesia E-commerce Association, idEA.
