Tapping the Untapped
Indonesia today is a country of tremendous opportunity with a young population and fast-developing economy, with gross domestic product of more than one trillion dollars. It’s also home to a rapidly urbanising society with a middle class that continues to expand. A recent study by the Australian Government’s Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment found that Indonesia’s demand for food is expanding, and consumers’ preferences are becoming increasingly diverse. Relatedly, the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies had suggested that as a close neighbour, Australia has a strong position to be an agribusiness supplier to Indonesia.
Featuring Toby Garritt, CEO of Pod Chocolate, and Dr. Arianto Patunru, Fellow at the Australian National University Indonesia Project and Board Member at the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies, this episode of The Katalis Podcast takes its listeners to dive into the exciting trade and investment opportunities for Australian and Indonesian businesses in the agrifood sector.
The Katalis Podcast is produced by Katalis, a unique, government-backed business development program that unlocks the vast potential of economic partnership between Australia and Indonesia. Established under the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the Katalis Economic Cooperation Program complements existing Australian development program activities with a commercially oriented, bilateral approach, with a strong focus on gender equality and social inclusion.
