What is your commercial business opportunity idea ?

Describe your Indonesia-Australia business opportunity. What is the overall vision? E.g., Invest in a particular sector or region? Increase trade in a particular commodity or service? Increase market share or sales in a particular region or product/service? Or something else? What sequence of steps are required to achieve the commercial outcome? What progress have you already made towards realising the opportunity? (300 words maximum)

What are the supporting activities required for your business opportunity?

Achieving your business opportunity vision will require several supporting activities. Katalis works by collaborating with beneficiaries on an agreed set of supporting activities, some of which Katalis will fund (either directly or else via a third party “implementing partner”), and others which the beneficiary will fund/support themselves (as part of the Katalis co-contribution requirement). For example, your business opportunity may be to “investigate entering the Indonesian or Australian market”. Investigating the Indonesian or Australian market may include the supporting activities of “conducting desk research” and “conducting a market entry study tour/visit”. This may work with you, as the beneficiary, funding one of these activities yourself (co-contribution), and Katalis funding the other activity. The below questions will ask you to consider these aspects in more detail.

Type of supporting activities

What supporting activities do you believe are required to achieve the vision you have for your business opportunity? The following are just an indicative guide of the kinds of supporting activities you may wish to pursue. Please check if any of these apply to your business opportunity or specify in “other” (multiple checking possible).

Katalis-funded supporting activity description (type, scale, scope, location):

Please describe the supporting activity you would like to seek Katalis funding for (200 words maximum).

Katalis can invest in a range of supporting activities to help you pursue your business opportunity vision. These supporting activities could include policy, research, networking, or skills development support (as outlined above) to help progress your business opportunity and take advantage of mutually beneficial bilateral opportunities under IA-CEPA. In describing the Katalis-funded activity, please note that Katalis is not a grants program and cannot provide direct funding to beneficiaries. The activity described below should be something that can either be delivered by Katalis directly or else be contracted to a third party “implementing partner”. The Guidelines to Submit a Commercial Business Opportunity provide further information on what Katalis can and cannot fund, and explains the difference between a “beneficiary” and an “implementing partner”.

Beneficiary-funded supporting activity description (type, scale, scope, location) – Also referred to as the Co-Contribution:

Please provide details regarding the supporting activity or activities you would undertake as your co-contribution.
One of the Katalis Investment Criteria is for the business opportunity to “include financial or in-kind co-contribution from the beneficiary or beneficiaries”. Katalis will prioritise business opportunity ideas with financial or in-kind co-contribution.
