Supporting Increased Bilateral Cooperation between Indonesian and Australian Nursing Professions
August 20, 2024
Katalis has supported greater alignment and collaboration between nursing organisations in Indonesia and Australia. Between 2022 and 2024, Katalis produced an opportunity assessment report, a qualification equivalence assessment report and conducted three bilateral workshops including in-country workshops with stakeholders across the nursing community in Indonesia and Australia.
The first report, Market Opportunity Assessment, describes trends in the need, demand and supply of nurses in Australia and Indonesia, as well as some of the barriers to nurse mobility, to understand whether mobility is feasible.
The second report, Qualifications Equivalence Assessment, assesses the equivalence of nursing accreditation and qualifications of registered nurses in Australia and professional nurses in Indonesia. Similarities and differences between the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) qualification standards for a registered nurse and Indonesian qualification standards for a professional nurse are presented in this report. This comparison provides insights into what is needed to achieve greater alignment in nursing education between Australia and Indonesia.
