Technical Feasibility Study: Green Steel – An Indonesia/Australia Powerhouse Opportunity

September 2023 – December 2023

PT. Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP) operate an integrated iron and steel manufacturing plant in Bekasi, Indonesia. GRP is committed to transforming its business to meet the needs of the green economy. Fortescue is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Fortescue Metals Group and is in the process of developing a comprehensive suite of products and services to decarbonise the steel supply chain. This includes a significant focus on the generation of green hydrogen. GRP and Fortescue are jointly investigating the potential of producing green hydrogen at GRP’s plant in Bekasi to initially replace the natural gas used in the downstream steelmaking process. Katalis will produce a technical feasibility study that will inform both parties of the practicality and viability of the project.
